MADAYIPARA MEMORIES VADUKUNDA LAKE: K. K. R. VENGARA

PURIFICATION YAJNA:

The Great Yajna, which began on April 20, 1979, lasted for twenty days. Perhaps this is the first such incident in Vadukunda's centuries-long history.
People from all over the country, regardless of age or gender, took part in it. Five motors tried hard, but the water could not be completely drained; people dug mud in the bins like a relay and let it out. It was the first major service yajna ever seen in Madayipara. The Vadukunda Shiva Temple Reconstruction Committee was formed in 1979 under the chairmanship of MK Govindan Nambiar.

It was a temple that had been neglected by all for centuries. A Shiva presence believed to be Swayambhu within the small Calcutta. However, in the last quarter of the sixties, in the extremist ideology that had taken shape in Kerala, many idols were uprooted and this Swayambhu Shiva was scalded and thrown into a well: it was later recovered. Many people led the cleansing of Vadukunda Lake. CV Damodaran Vaidyar - Alayil Narayanan. Narayanan Master 'P.P. Krishnan Master, Bhaskaran Master, Madayi Bhaskaraton, PV Narayanan Master, AK Narayanan. 'The list goes on and on.

It can be said that the Vadukunda Lake Purification Yajna created a festive atmosphere. The disappearance of a leading newspaper which reported that the footprints of the crocodile were copied by some marks formed in the mud was also interesting. The ancients heard that there was an ancient crocodile in Vadukunda lake. Vadukunda is a very old temple. Tipu's circumstantial evidence shows that its construction was not completed. It must have been broken before that. Some believe it happened during the war. No historical evidence was presented. The ruined rocks there tell us many stories.

In any case, it must be assumed that Vattukunda is older than Madayikavu. As an artist, I have tried to read the ruins of Vadukunda. None of it is Kerala style but I can read the presence of Hoysala School in Karnataka is something that deserves more research. In any case, Kolathiri was one of the blacksmiths who were brought from abroad to rebuild his country. Their descendants still make small sculptures and make ancillary works for temples and kavus at Karanthat in Kunnaru. The great sculptor of the last generation, Krishna, disappeared into the darkness of time without being known to anyone. P.P. The renovation of the Vadukunda Shiva Temple and the first festival was held under the leadership of Krishnan Master. That historic event was in 1992. For a long time Bhaskaratan of Madayi was its chief administrator. Today the temple has grown and grown. When the revenue increased, the Devaswom Board showed its strength and took over. To this day, the controversy over this is not over.

Vadakunda, the Poorankuli headquarters of Madaikavilamma is a wonderful experience. It has never dried up in history. Surviving any fire, Vadukunda gave life to hundreds of species. Vadukunda would have been lost forever if the Madayipara mining had continued. ECG, Madayipara Conservation Committee, Seek… We are indebted to such militant groups.
